A Decade’s Insomnia inhabits the borderlands where discordant undercurrents mingle and breed. A liminal space where conflicting cross-currents intertwine and the boundaries between past and present, memory and dream, blur and dissolve. In this realm, thought streams flow unnaturally, unpredictably unharnessed. A force disarticulated from within, an internal landscape shaped by relentless cross-referencing, negotiations and the brain’s ceaseless computations. These mixed media works on paper trace the invisible force of intergenerational trauma as it manifests in dreams, revealing how the weight of history distorts perceptions and lingers in the subconscious. Each work within the series represents a year of a decade. The fragmented and layered nature of the media — acrylic paint, polymer emulsion and isopropyl alcohol — emulate the fractured nature of memory and the disjointed logic of dreams. A Decade’s Insomnia is a meditation on the echoes of unresolved trauma, where the past refuses to remain dormant, living instead in the quiet turbulence of dreams.
