File no. ic54-0015s is a video installation exploring sensations of a tech-infused society becoming bankrupt of humanity. Central to the installation aesthetic are imagined characteristics of alien synthetic biology that have come to replace one’s natural skin for various reasons, including circumnavigating intergalactic border restrictions. NASA soundscapes illuminate the intergalactic environment punctuating the visuals and respond to audience movements. The work is intended to draw on the mechanistic ideal of synthetic biology contrasted with the strange messiness of sentient life.
